Flock
is a wire installation that was first exhibited at The Second Floor Gallery at Pratt Institute in 1998. It has since grown and has been included in 2001The Portland Biennial, and in the Lafayette, Louisiana exhibit, "I Want to Believe" in 2004. The piece consists of over 2500 tiny handmade wire coat hangers. Each has a stem that is then stapled to the gallery wall and lit in such a way to imply wings. The piece was inspired by the blackbirds I have see rise and and take flight from the local rice fields.
